Description
This e-learning course will help you become more confident in your day to day dealings with disabled people and will provide you with a general overview of the basic themes and issues surrounding the subject of disability. You will be introduced to relevant law and consider responses to situations where action is necessary to promote fairness and respect in the work place.

Modules:
1. Introduction

2. Disability
Looks at different models of disability, both in theory and in contextual examples. It also suggests
how to interact with disabled people, with examples set in a leisure environment.

3. Barriers
Highlights what can constitute barriers to a disabled person, looking at those which can hinder
those with mental as well as physical disabilities.

4. Equality Act (2010)
Discusses the legislation which governs discrimination in the UK, including the nine protected
characteristics along with examples of what is or is not classed as discriminatory.

5. Events
How to make events accessible for people with disabilities.

6. Knowledge check
A quiz requiring an 80% score to pass.

Course duration:
Approximately 40 mins (including quiz), though no time limit set.

Certification:
Your certificate will be available to download as soon as you have passed the end of course quiz.
